Functions


Bands

- RGB cameras, visible light bands (384∼769 THz)
- capture rich color and detailed information. poor position accuracy.
- Limitation: low light, adverse weather
- Infrared cameras, infrared bands (300 Ghz ∼400 THz), λ between 1 mm and 780 nm
- work for dark environment, but loss edge info
- affected by weather
- Lidars, infrared bands (361∼331 THz),
- high accuracy, minimally affected by changes in ambient light, such as low light
- poor penetration, easily affected by dense fog, rain and snow.
- Millimeter-wave radar, radio bands (24∼94~300 GHz), λ between 1 cm and 1mm
- general recognition ability, strong penetrating ability, and is not easily affected by light and weather;
- The maximum distance of millimeter-wave radar is 1 km, while lidar is only 300 meters.
- 5G: 1 GHz - 6 GHz, is considered perfect for 5G because it can carry plenty of data while traveling significant distances.
